
Engr. Charles Okor: BSc(Hons) MNSE MSPE FIHNR FNES FNISP
Engr. Okoro holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Ibadan (1977). He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Environmental Society, a Corporate Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.(COREN).
Engr. I.C. Okoro is a Petroleum Engineer, a community and sustainable development expert and an environmental professional who has made immense contributions to the development of oil prospecting, exploration, exploitation and production – including HSE and environmental management in the Nigerian Oil Industry in the following areas.
Worked for Shell for 34 years (1977 – 2010) during which period he developed professionally and occupied various senior operational and management positions in the company – including:
- Wellsite Petroleum Engineer – 1977 – 1980
- Well Engineer 1980 – 1984,
- Senior Gas Engineer – 1984 – 1989,
- Head Production Technology – 1989 – 1992
- Head Integrated Operations Planning, – 1992 – 1996
- Head Environment Western Operations 1996 – 1999
- Corporate Head of Sustainable Development 1999 – 2002
- Vast industry experience as Shell Nigeria Environmental Manager for 11 years; 2002 – 2011– including being the Regional Manager HSE Environment for Shell E&P Africa in my last 8 years with Shell.
- Served as member of the Shell Group HSE and Environmental Leadership Team 2002 – 2011
- Was HSE Skill Pool & Competence Development Manager for Shell EP Africa 2006 – 2011
- As a PE and HSE/Environment Manager in Shell, I had quite an interaction and network with all the Nigerian Oil & Gas Industry Regulatory Authorities – including the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Federal Ministry of Environment, NOSDRA etc.
